Criminologists have found a link between unusual names and delinquency. People with unusual names are more likely to go to prison and less likely to succeed professionally.
Most people scoff and with a president named Barak Obama I suppose they have the perfect example how this isn't always the case. However the statistics speak for themselves and even when adjustments are made for ethnicity (people from other countries have unusual names) there is still an obvious trend.
This has proven true in my own personal experience as well. I knew a girl named Storm in school and despite being a modestly attractive person who fit in well with her group of friends; she was relentlessly picked on. Sometimes they picked on her because of her name but they came up with all sorts of other reasons to pick on her as well. Bullies have a pack mentality and once they have identified a target they will focus all their attention on that person.
Despite being a modestly attractive person with a bright demeanor and rosy outlook on life, after school she became a hardcore goth. So extreme I couldn't believe it when I saw her last. Despite never picking on her myself she refused to admit she knew me when I spoke to her and hurriedly avoided me. I could only assume her ordeal at high school was so traumatic that she treated everything from that time as a reminder that she would rather ignore.
The point I would like to impress on you is go for something normal and acceptable! I knew another girl named Nirvana Sunshine Baker and I won't even begin to tell you where that story went! Let's hope she's in Nirvana right now!
If you want to do your child a favor go for a normal name that is also girly and feminine. If it's a boy go for something strong and masculine. Tall men with masculine names tend to rule all the competitive fields for reasons that don't seem to make sense and helping your child into this category can't hurt!|||Danni
